"Awesomeness-Driven Church"

I have come across a common theme in some articles I have read lately. I would love to hear your thoughts on these articles. Perhaps we, as the church, should be rethinking a few things.

Here are the articles:

  1. Hey!

Just wanted to leave a quick comment on this. I read your linked posts, and I'm in agreement with a lot of what's being said. I do, however, have one small note to make.

I think the difference comes more in the levels of PASSION than it does in the levels of entertainment. You can preach straight from the Bible and be as conservative as they come, and still not be reaching people. Whether or not you have the gimmicks isn't what's making the difference. What's making a difference is the level of passion, of excitement for God and His word, that your church has. Newcomers will only be as excited as those around them.

  2. Rachael...

Excellent response. Thank you for that insight. I completely agree with you. If the Word is not being preached with PASSION... if the preacher is not EXCITED and overcome with the JOY and CONVICTION of his message... then most people will tune it out and brush it off as dead and pointless. People want to see and hear people that actually BELIEVE and are PASSIONATE about what they are saying.... they want to see it lived out.

    So, Rachael, thank you again.
