"Worship Leader's Job Description & Pay"

It is hard when you are one who serves the church, whether it be through music, teaching and preaching, counseling, etc., to talk about being paid for what you do. Well, it is hard for me anyway. It is hard because if I did not have to pay my bills, feed my children, and fill my vehicle with fuel, I would totally do it all for free. It is what I love doing. It is, I feel, what I was born to do. The only problem with all of that is that we all need money in order to live and to provide for our families.

That said, I came across this article last night and feel it needs to be re-posted. It was originally a letter written to a pastor in response to his wondering what he should be looking to pay the future worship leader of a new church plant. The article gives a very clear, concise breakdown of what a worship leader/pastor does, how many hours it takes to do that, and what salary seems fair and reasonable considering those variables and where the church is located.

I encourage you, if you are wondering about these sorts of things, to check out the article, even to read some of the responses to it on the blog. The article can be found here (http://worthilymagnify.com/2011/03/12/a-worship-leader%E2%80%99s-job-description-and-pay/)
