November is for Thanks | Day 4

Today I am thankful for music. I know it is probably completely cliche, but it is true. Music is a HUGE part of my life. Without music, life would be empty, soulless, and void of the ability to express or convey emotion in a meaningful way.

Music, for me, is a release...it is an out...but it is also something that connects me to people...to nature...to creation...to God! I remember when I was 18 I drove with my parents across country for the last time to visit friends and family. It was at the end of the summer, near the fall, and all the trees were changing colors and everything was so beautiful. That landscape, in itself, was nice...but they music that I brought with me made it perfect. It brought out the colors...it brought out the emotion...it brought out and highlighted the heart of the Creator. I was in awe. Music does that to me...and so, for it, I am thankful.

I also love how I can hear a song that I have not heard in years and all of a sudden be transformed into another space and time. I can feel what I felt, see what I saw, smell what I smelled...music can do that like not many other things in my life. I LOVE MUSIC!

Finally, I love how I am able to give back to my Creator through music. I am able to use music to communicate my heart and my affections to Him. Music can be used to lead others to a space where they can sense, feel, and encounter the presence of God in a powerful way. Music...I could talk about this all day. But...I will leave it at that.

Today I am thankful for music. What are you thankful for today?
